Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso faces the press to talk about several issues and topics.

ON BEPPE IACHINI - "I want to thank Beppe Iachini for his work. Last season he took us to tenth place after saving us. This season he also took us to safety. We should all thank him for his work. When he returned the team was in pieces. He is the one who helped take it back into the right place. He deserves a statue in Florence for what he did. I want to thank him on behalf of myself, the club, the team and all the real Fiorentina fans. My biggest mistake was to suffer the pressure of the people when we sent Iachini away after seven matches at the start of the season - we shouldn't have let him go, and results show this. Many journalists and pundits spoke out against Iachini, and they went against Fiorentina. So I realised I shouldn't follow pressure from outside, but my own instincts, which so far in my life have been often positive." 

ON JOURNALISTS - "There are good journalists in Florence, but why don't they speak out against those who say lies? The journalists don't want to offend their colleagues, but they are the first to offend me, my family, my players. My players are good, better than what you think. Every day I read awful stuff. In two years I have been working non-stop. I spent all this money and no one is thanking me - just criticism. I want to improve every season. This season didn't go as planned. I take responsibility for my mistakes, you as media should do the same." 

ON THE FUTURE - "Many journalists said months ago that we should start programming the future. We will talk about this in the near future, when the season is over. Today I cannot say who will stay and who will go. The type of coach I want is a coach that wins. Our plan is to do the best possible within our financial possibilities. Dreams are one thing, promises are other things. I never made promises that I haven't fulfilled. At the start of the season I believed we had a better team than last season, like many others. But we worked, we made mistakes, and we are where we are despite spending money. We need to look internally and try and do better next season. I already spent much more than the Della Valle. They got positive results in 17 years, I've only been here 2 years, give me some time. There are more than 200 people who know football at Fiorentina. Perhaps not me, but there are people. I took Fiorentina from 16th and took it to 10th in Serie A. I look at many other teams in Serie A and it takes time to get positive results. Give me time. We will talk about the future when and if we announce the new coach. I am sure that players will be enthusiastic to come play here. My intention is to improve in the table next season." 

ON VLAHOVIC AND RIBERY -  "Vlahovic impressed me from day one. Our desire is to keep him here at Fiorentina. We will finish the season and then we will have an answer. Our intention is to keep him. I don't have an idea about Ribery's future."  

ON MONEY SPENT - "Never would I have thought I would spend so much money in two years for Fiorentina, after spending so much money to buy Fiorentina. I acquired Fiorentina and after 8 months the pandemic arrived. In the past two years we lost €38M cash. On top of that €44M in player trading. That means €82M. Nobody in Florence wants to speak about the money Rocco has spent. It cost €170M to buy, plus €80M or more aforementioned, plus €80M for the training ground. If I wanted to sell Fiorentina, find me a rich Florentine who has the money and does things properly. Why criticise me? Things aren't going well. But Fiorentina are one of the few clubs with no debt. With me Fiorentina will never end up like with the Cecchi Gori family. I hope COVID ends and that revenue can increase, and luckily I had money to spend on Fiorentina, or else we would be in trouble now. Rocco can buy any sports team in the world. If I chose Fiorentina it's because I like Florence. I fell in love with Florence in 1973. Have some respect for those who carry Fiorentina forward." 

ON THE NEW STADIUM AND TRAINING GROUND - "Regarding the new stadium, I stick to what I said last year - if we cannot make it, then the municipality should do it. But I need to know many things afterwards on how it will work. We still have an option for the land in Campi Bisenzio. I want to have the new training centre done in a year's time. I hope the construction work can continue."    

ON THE SUPER LEAGUE - "The laws of the game, made by FIFA, need to be the same for everyone. We cannot have a closed system in America and an open one here in Europe. I came here because I prefer this system, with promotion and relegation. They should also apply it in the USA."
