Fiorentina Women

Viola undone by Milan

26 November 2022

It was a bad day at the office for Fiorentina Women as they came up against an AC Milan side firing on all cylinders and ended up losing 6-1.

The Rossonere came racing out of the blocks and were 4-0 up by half time, with former Viola forward Martina Piemonte and Lindsey Thomas netting a brace apiece.

Patrizia Panico shook up the team with three changes during the break and one of them, Emma Severini, pulled a goal back just 32 seconds after the restart. It was her first goal for the club and makes her the youngest player to score for Fiorentina.

The Viola were on the front foot now and poured forward, with Milan spending most of the time defending. However, an unfortunate own goal by Stephanie Breitner 15 minutes from time extinguished any remaining Viola hopes and Kamila Dubcova added a sixth late on.

The girls will look to bounce back immediately when they visit Como next weekend.
