Fiorentina Women made it five home wins on the bounce as they beat Sampdoria 2-1 to move into second place awaiting results elsewhere.

After a slow start, in the 20th minute a Miriam Longo shot took a wicked deflection off Cecilia Re and ended up in the net.

Sampdoria tried to fight back in the second half but with 10 minutes remaining Alexandra Johannsdottir slid in our second of the game.

The visitors still didn't relent and managed to halve the deficit through Talia Della Peruta just before the game entered stoppage time.

However, Sebastian De La Fuente's side withstood the final onslaught to claim all three points.
