Four-goal haul against Sampdoria
Fiorentina Women get back among the goals and smiles have returned to the faces of everyone at Viola Park after a convincing 4-0 victory over Sampdoria to boost the team’s league position. Madelen Janogy opened the scoring with a stunning strike into the top corner on seven minutes, followed by Agnese Bonfantini, who netted twice in the second half and was named MVP of the match, while Janogy then got on the scoresheet again. Sampdoria attempted to bag a consolation goal, but it wasn’t enough to trouble Cecilie Fiskerstrand.
This win boosts not only the standings but also morale, following the disappointing European night against Wolfsburg. Fiorentina now look ahead to their return trip to Germany, where they'll face Wolfsburg on Wednesday at 18:30 CEST at the AOK Stadion in the second leg of the Champions League round 2 playoff. It’s seemingly an almost impossible challenge, but the Viola will be there to honor the jersey no matter what.
In the meantime, Fiorentina can enjoy their position at the top of the league table, tied with Juventus. Their next league match will be against none other than the Bianconere on September 30 in Biella.
